What are the different types of domains?
There are two basic types of domains - those that are linked to individual countries and those that are international in nature. International domains, also referred to as Generic Top Level Domains [gTLDs], include the .com, .net and .org. They are not associated with any country. Country-based domains, technically known by the name of Country Code Top Level Domains [ccTLDs], are controlled by each countries Network Information Centre and, for this reason, do not have a standard set of requirements for applicants. These domains are recognisable by their two letter extension on the far right of the domain name - i.e., the .au in intervations.com.au .
